One of my favorites songs by one of my favorite singers is the song “Whatever It Takes” by Matt Papa.
It’s a hard song.
It’s about surrending all.
Whatever we prize more than Him is an idol, and my flesh doesn’t want to sing this song, because I want to cling to my idols.
And as much as it hurts my comfort, the truth is, true comfort is in Him and He’s worth so much more thanĀ anything I let go of.
Prayer is where we wage war with our idols.
Are we willing to say “Your will be done?”
What if that means letting go of a big part of our hearts, because we’re wrapped up in an obsession?
What if that means moving somewhere else?
What if that means taking a giant leap of faith?
This is uncomfortable faith.
That’s the faith that Jesus lived. The crown of thorns on his head wasn’t comfortable. The road to Calvary wasn’t easy. But for the joy set before Him He endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2).
He wants to fill us with that king of joy.
He wants us to step out of our comfort zone, and trust Him more.
He wants us to pray…
Do whatever it takes me to make me more like Jesus
This is hard, and I might break
But I mean it when I say
Lord, do whatever, whatever it takes
