How To Make it Through the Day

Music has touched my life in so many ways.

I truly don’t know where I’d be today without the effect that beautiful songs of truth have played upon my heart. It’s amazing how a song can resonate with exactly what my soul needs to pray. One of those songs that has touched my life is “Lord, I Need You” by Chris Tomlin.  When I need to feel the peace of God, often it will come to mind:

Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the one that guides my heart

Lord, I need You, oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

–“Lord, I Need You” by Chris Tomlin

In our times of need, we can be propelled to despair or propelled to prayer.

A prayer here or there is not enough to get us through the challenges of life. Even when we are in an easy season of life, if we’re not connecting in a continual way with our Maker, we’ll find success or happiness going to our head in an unhealthy, prideful way.

The more we come to face our human limitations and faults, the more we experience our desperate need for Him.

It’s okay to be in need. it’s okay to feel drained. This is where we learn to casts our cares on Him, to pray without ceasing, to cherish our dependence on Him.

To keep on the straight and narrow path He has for our lives, prayer must be a part of our lifestyle.

How we make it through the day matters because days become months, months become years, and years become a lifetime.

Let’s keep turning to the One who created the galaxies, music, words, personalities, and our very hearts.

Don’t be afraid to admit you need Him every hour.

Let others see Your daily dependence on Him. He longs for you to be a living example of the truth that His power is perfected in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Admit that prayer changes your life, that you’d be lost without Jesus, and that you need Him every hour.

Your dependence is a testimony.

Hello, we're Peyton and Joy. We're two friends who love Jesus and have a passion for prayer. We've both experienced times in our lives when we've struggled to pray, and times when we've felt such strength in prayer. We've seen God's grace touch our lives, and we want to share that grace here.

  1. This was so true, what a powerful post, Joy! This would be a good post to feature in your magazine column at some point in the future. 😉

Christ’s Light Magazine published yesterday! To God be the glory! 😀

  2. Beautiful post! I don’t know where I’d be without having God to guide, protect, forgive and pour out his grace. I know I need to spend more prolonged time in prayer and I am working toward that. It’s so good, though, that we can pray anytime, anywhere and he hears us.

Blessings to you! I’m your neighbor at #MomentsofHope.
